Upper Peninsula Maps Gone Wrong
These maps keep popping up all over the place! Maps missing the Upper Peninsula, maps with the Upper Peninsula labeled incorrectly, and of course maps where it appears the Upper Peninsula is part of Wisconsin or Canada.
The issue has occured so freqently in our own state of Michigan, that the Michigan Legislature passed a bill requiring all state documents depciting Michigan include the Upper Peninsula.
We’ve been collecting these maps since 2009. If you have one for us, send us a message and we’ll get it on the list and write a letter to the culprits.

Thanks to Todd (@tstanich) for sending this map over. This map was posted on AutoBlog.com but came from GM! As far as I've read the Volt will be available in the U.P. in the 1st quarter, and I'm not sure why they would split only Michigan into different sections on this map and not any of the other states. I'm guessing the U.P. should also be white. It's a bummer seeing how GM is a Michigan company. However, I'm guessing this was put together by some PR firm who is based a long ways from Michigan. The map, by the way, shows when the Chevy Volt arrives for sale in each state. Hmmm something funny going on here. But at least they have the U.P. on the map. I guess they're just preparing for when we secede from Michigan, but I'm thinking we should just go for our own country and skip over being our own state. Here's another from our friend Alex. But hey, c'mon now! The Upper Peninsula is home to some beautiful beaches. It looks like they're promoting just the West Michigan beaches here. But if you're going to say Michigan Beachtowns feature the whole state! Not just a small sliver.
