It's a Beautiful Summer Day in the Upper Peninsula
I couldn’t resist. Sorry. But yes, winter will be here soon. You see, I’m very excited for winter, more excited than I have been in a long time. For the first time in my life I will be living five minutes from the ski hill (Marquette Mountain). And if I truly want to snowboard every single day there is nothing stopping me. I have never had that luxury before. I sacrificed snowboarding while at MSU for five years and of course you can’t snowboard too often while on a 50-state tour.
It has been a beautiful summer in the Upper Peninsula. I haven’t spent this much time in the Upper Peninsula since I was 18, and I can sure you I didn’t appreciate it as much at that age.
The long cold winters make us appreciate these perfect summer days even more. However, the way I see it, is that these beautiful summer days should make us appreciate winter just as much. The sky is perfectly blue today, not a cloud, everything is green. Yet you see a photo like this and there couldn’t be anymore contrast. It’s incredible to live somewhere with that much contrast and change every year.
So please bear with me as I know not everyone loves the winter as much as I. When I came across this photo on a summer day like today I found it to be absolutely perfect.
