Annual 12 Hours of Potluck Mountain Bike Race in Marquette

Over 120 mountain bikers came from across the Upper Peninsula, the State of Michigan, and even a few out of staters for the annual 12 Hours of Potluck Mountain Bike Race in Marquette on Saturday, July 19. It’s not a potluck in the traditional sense, however there is still a lot of food, people hanging out, visiting, camping, and enjoy a cold beer.

The name potluck doesn’t come from the food, but Potluck Creek in the area of the bike race. The starting gate is directly across from Wetmore Landing.

After a few years of being an underground bike race the event has grown to 120+ riders. Teams of four compete in an endurance competition on the 5.5 mile course. After 12 hours of riding the team with the most laps takes home the prize money.

Among the teams there was one single-speed team and a few men and women competing in the solo 12-hour race.
