What You’ll Find in Store

Most of what you’ll find in store are products designed and conceptualized entirely by the UPSCo team. We’re driven by creating new concepts and ideas that extend beyond the addition of a single design. An example is framing the U.P. as the Upper Peninsula of America or defining Lake Superior as the Greatest Lake of All-Time (GLOAT).

Additionally, we like to carry some of our favorite products from across the Upper Peninsula, Michigan, and products that feature Isle Royale, Pictured Rocks, and the countless other staples of the area. Some of the brands we carry are Field Notes, Michigummies, and 59 Parks.

A Little About Us

We are purveyors of the Upper Peninsula.

We foster community by creating unique goods and campaigns that celebrate the Upper Peninsula of America.

Our goods consist of original apparel, prints, artwork, and gifts. Our campaigns include creating holidays, building an embassy, and yes, even a dating website. We partner with people and organizations across the Upper Peninsula to promote good, execute original ideas, and provide a fresh take on the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, the Great Lakes, and the nature and wildlife that surround us. Since 2008, we’ve been supplying the Upper Peninsula to the world.

A short list includes creating the original Upper Peninsula silhouette t-shirt, creating the original 906 car decal, creating Plaidurday and 906 Day, as well as launching Yooper Singles and the Upper Peninsula Embassy. We love sharing these stories, so if you’re in the shop feel free to ask what inspired them all.

Revamping a Downtown Location

While many shops have closed their doors to go online, we’ve taken the opposite approach. From the beginning in 2008, it was always a dream to have a brick and mortar location. Good things take dedication, hard work, and patience. Ten years after launching our ecommerce endeavor as Yooper Steez, we opened the doors to our first storefront on December 11, 2018.

For years, 221 W Washington had a non-descript appearance from the outside, with its shades drawn for possible decades. Sandwiched between our friends at Moon Spunwool and Babycakes, we wanted to add to the growing liveliness of the 200 block.

When we arrived it was a vacant and dated lawyers office, complete with mustard green walls and a near infinite supply of wood paneling.
